Targawar area of Urmia city is one of the most beautiful areas and has a very pleasant climate and attracts thousands of foreign and domestic tourists every year.
One of the most attractive places in the area is the village of Khoshako, which tourists visit in winter for snowboarding. Khoshako village is located in the Targawar area of Urmia city and is 30 kilometers away from Urmia city.
Khoshako village is bordered by Darband village in the north, Dazgir village in the south, Halafla village in the east, and Tukhloo village in the North part of Kurdistan in the west. According to the latest 2017 census, the village has a population of 796 people and 154 families. According to the Iranian Cultural Heritage Organization, Khoshako village is one of the 10 tourist villages of Urmia province.
There is a touristic attraction for athletes and tourists in the mountains of this village. This place is called "Khwashmtandna Khoshako"; this place is 1,800 meters above sea level and 1,200 meters long. This place is a place for skiing.
Every year with the arrival of cold weather, a lot of snow falls in this area and the snowboarding center in Khoshako village becomes a tourist destination for tourists from all over Iran and Kurdistan. Its area is 50,000 square meters and can be suitable for athletes and climbers in summer due to its good grass.
In addition to the attractive scenery of this area, this place has facilities such as a "chairlift" to transport people. There are also parachutists there, making a beautiful sight.
In addition to skiing and snow sports, tourists can take advantage of this nature for fun and play in the snow; Thousands of people from home and abroad visit the area every day to see these spectacular sights.
This place is the only ski slope in Urmia and is often used for skiing in Iran and the provinces. Therefore, the locals pay special attention to this place and it has even become a source of income for the people of the surrounding villages.
How to access this area
There are two ways to see this touristic attraction; first, in Urmia, if you get on the Anhar-Targawar road, head towards Targawar. When you reach the sign “14 Martyrs”, turn left and continue until you reach Khoshako village. Second, when you go to Band Resort or Band Village from Urmia, you will reach Shahrchayi Dam, from there you will reach Razhan village, and on the right is Silwana town, and continue this way to reach Khoshako Village.
