The Location of Halgurd Mountain

Halgurd Mountain is one of the highest mountains in Kurdistan which has a wide area and a high peak, it is located on the Zagros Mountain range and extends from the Bamir node to the Armenian node in the northwest. Halgurd has the highest peak in all the mountains of the South part of Kurdistan and it is 3607 meters above sea level. Kurdistan mountains, especially Halgurd, have an ancient geological structure and are made of firestones and sediments. Due to the instability of the plates and their continuous movements, every year these mountains rise higher by a few centimeters; especially in the areas where the plates contact, and most of the mountains of Kurdistan are formed around them. These continuous movements are a reason for the rise of the older towers and the fall of the newer towers.

The History of Halgurd Mountain
