Band, the Oldest Village in Urmia and a Resort for Locals and Foreigners

The east part of Kurdistan has hundreds of attractions and tourist places and each region of this part of Kurdistan has its own touristic attractions. There are dozens of tourist attractions in Urmia, one of the largest cities in the East part of Kurdistan, one of which is the village of Band.

Band village is a district of Barandiz Region in the central part of Urmia, located in the southwestern part of Urmia city. This village is also located on the road of the Shahrchayi River, 5 kilometers from Urmia.

The village of Band is next to Urmia City, one of the tourist attractions of Urmia, and is located between two rocky mountains in a valley. This village is 1400 meters above sea level. The Band village has a history of more than 3 thousand years and is considered to be one of the oldest villages in Urmia and Kurdistan. The income of the people of this village is based on agriculture, horticulture, and livestock, and a significant part of the income is provided by tourism.

Apple and grape orchards give this village a unique beauty and these orchards are spread on the slopes of the mountains and along the river. The presence of high mountains, trees, and vineyards as well as a flowing river has made dozens of tourists from Kurdistan and all over Iran visit this area daily.

In fact, by attracting domestic and foreign tourists, the village was soon transformed from an agricultural village to a tourist village. After Band became known as a tourist village, the occupation of the majority of the villagers gradually changed from gardening and agriculture to restaurants and cafes.

Attractions of Band Village

Band Village, one of the main resorts of Urmia, has many natural attractions; Some of these attractions include:

- Resort next to the Shahrchayi River.

- Gardens around the village.

- High mountains and winter resorts (most tourists visit this village in winter).

- The lake behind Shahrchayi Dam with water sports services.

- Resort around Shahrchayi Dam.

At the beginning of the village, there is a large square and both sides are full of "traditional and modern cafes and restaurants" that are very attractive places for tourists. Some of the cafes are built in the gardens and along the river, to give the village an attractive beauty.

Band village is located in a mountainous area and is surrounded by high mountains on all sides. This has resulted in a mild and pleasant climate in spring and summer; however, you should know that from mid-autumn to late winter, the temperature in Band Village drops significantly.

In spring and summer, tourists visit this village because of its green nature, beautiful springs, and dozens of other examples. In autumn, tourists visit because of the gardens and trees in and around the village, and their leaves are seen in various colors.
