The hidden heaven known as Takoran is located 43 kilometers near Sewrag. This hidden heaven that is on the border of Sewrag and Samsour is about 20 kilometers long. As it is clear from the name, it is truly a spectacular heaven. It makes people feel so calm and relaxed as if it is a picture painted by a great painter who has carefully drawn every branch and piece of this natural scenery, especially during Autumn and Spring.
This place looks so yellow in Autumn as if it is a part of a poem coming to life. The green Spring with its beautiful flowers and blossoms amazes everyone. This place is known as Takoran but since it is not very popular, they also added "hidden heaven" to its name. In fact, this place is a valley where the Euphrates water passes through it.
After a big dam was built in Hawag, the water increased and the valley turned into fertile land gradually so the people began to build their villages around Faret River. Most of the people of Sewrag inhabited these villages. Even the great film director, Yilmaz Goney, was from one of these villages. There is a village near the Faret River called Desman.
This heaven we are describing amazes people with its wonderful scenery. Although it is not very popular, a lot of tourists visit this area every year.
Since the villages we mentioned are located in mountainous areas, it makes it very difficult for the people of this region to work. The inhabitants of these villages rely on fishing and livestock farming. Recently they bought a boat for the tourists who visit the area to use it which is another financial source for the people.
Due to the regional conditions, they cannot do any other kind of work except for fishing and keeping livestock. However, the walnuts and pomegranates of this area are very famous for their high quality. Since it is not possible to manage agriculture here in these mountains, the villagers have expanded gardens with walnut and pomegranate trees. Every year at the time of harvesting these fruits, the people of Sewrag wait on the road to be able to buy these products.
Takoran is truly a hidden heaven and the reason for such a name is that it is a beautiful place that is not known to many. Nature is still preserved and it is not changed a bit. The people living in this area have also protected their language and culture. Unfortunately, this place has been ignored and nothing much has been done for it.
This heaven we are discussing is not only a place to have fun in it. It also has witnessed many things. Sometimes it was a refuge for the convicted people, sometimes it hosted the shepherds, and sometimes this water became the deceased tomb. At the time of the Armenian genocide, many Armenian people, the dead or surviving, were thrown into the Faret River.
Some people even say that at the bottom of the Faret, there are many churches and bridges built by the Armenians and that everything was submerged after the water increased. I don't know why nobody is investigating these places! However, some people have mentioned these points in their novels and writings. But in general, this issue, like its name, has remained hidden.
