Kurdshop - Khurkhura Waterfall also known as Mamakan is one of the natural attractions of Salmas City, located in Urmia province in the East part of Kurdistan. If you head towards Urmia from Salmas, after 11 kilometers, there is a road on the right where you can see the sign of Tamar village. After passing through Tamar and Shorgol and passing a distance of about 20 kilometers, you reach the Khurkhur valley.

The beautiful lake, located deep in the valley, 32 kilometers from the city of Salmas, is located between Shorgol and Mamakan. To reach the bottom of the lake, you have to turn down 80 meters. The water from the lagoon flows below into a small basin and then goes down like a small river.

The water level of the lagoon reaches its maximum in the spring when the rain and snow melt begin.

The best time to visit Khurkhura Waterfall is in spring, April, and May. The water level of the waterfall reaches its lowest in the summer. The lagoon attracts more tourists in winter due to the ice, glaciers, and freezing of the water. Due to its proximity to the village of Mamakan, the waterfall is also known as Mamakan.
