Kurdshop- Parmuk Waterfall, also known as Khalaf Waterfall, is one of the Waterfalls in Chewlig that has both an interesting story and has been flowing continuously for years.
The lake is a beautiful place for camping and photography in summer and freezes in winter, and it shows another view of beauty then.
In addition, villagers and lovers abroad are admired for their beauty, but even with these beautiful scenes, it actually has a sad story.
This beautiful Waterfall has long been known as the name of the village but has been renamed after the death of a figure. Local people tell the story like this: “One day a man named Khalaf went to the Waterfall to rest and swim in a cool place, but Khalaf fell from the Waterfall and drowned. After this, the lake became known as Khalaf Waterfall.”
The location of the Waterfall
This village belongs to the city of Chewlig in North Kurdistan and is about 20 kilometers from the city center. In the city, tourists and residents of the area go to Parmuk village and Khalaf Chewlig by village cars and their own cars. The livelihood of Parmuk village is based on livestock and agriculture.
The villagers speak mostly Zazaki Kurdish and most of them speak Kurmanji well.
Meanwhile, in the village, outside Khalaf Waterfall, there are some other attractions such as Grdi Kachal, Awi Sarkani, and Ashi Kavir, which are worth visiting. It means the village with its natural and beautiful scenery, attracts everyone's attention and is one of the most important tourist places.
