The Begir Waterfall in the North Part of Kurdistan Was Recorded as a Preserved Region Officially

Kurdshop_ The Begir (Moradiyah) waterfall located in Van province in the North part of Kurdistan, became a touristic spot for its spectacular scenery.

The Begir waterfall is 18 meters high. The waterfall is a splendid beauty and the surrounding area is to be regarded as a wonderful place. This waterfall is 8 kilometers away from the Begir (Morafiyah) town in Van province and it also is 80 kilometers away from the center of Van city.

The source of this waterfall is Tandourak Mountain and the water that is collected in the Chalderan plains is transferred to this area through the Bandimahi River. The water falls from some distinct heights however the highest part is 18 meters and on the east and west parts of it the height reaches 15 meters.

This waterfall has a splendid view during the four seasons which makes tourists visit this spot regularly. In the spring, the water falls strongly but during winter the water will freeze which makes even more beautiful scenery. In the summer, tourists and visitors come to this area to see the Begir waterfall and the surrounding areas.

Begir waterfall in the Van province in the North part of Kurdistan is supposed to become “a preserved and controlled natural area” according to the official newspapers of Turkey. The people of Begir town appreciated this notion since this is a very popular place for local and foreign tourists.

Haroon Altoun, the head of the agriculture and forestry office in Begir town said that the Begir area is a popular place due to its historical, natural, and cultural features. He also said: “Begir waterfall is one of the most important places in our town.”

Haroon Altoun mentioned: “Begir waterfall is located on an international route which makes it even more popular and easily found for tourists. The Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry decided that this waterfall must become a preserved area officially at 13. 04. 2023 which is an important decision in order to protect it.”

According to Haroon: “this decision will be beneficial for our citizens and it will not be allowed to build any kind of building or structures here in this area so that nothing would damage the place.” He also said; “I appreciate all those people who made this decision to be ordered officially and I hope it will help our nation.”
