Amedi, the 24th Beautiful Town in the World

The small town of Amedi in Duhok is in the South part of Kurdistan and it is located 90 kilometers away from the northeast of Duhok. This town’s location is very different from other cities and towns in Kurdistan because it is built like a castle. This town is located on a huge rock at the top of a mountain.

Amedi is an old small town in the South part of Kurdistan and it is known as Badinan Gate. Amedi was built 3000 years B.C and in different periods of time throughout history has been under the rule of Assyrians, Sasanians, Parthian empires, and several other civilizations. It was the center of the Badinan Empire for some time.

The geographical location of Amedi makes it close to Mergasour town, it has common borders with Akre from the south, from the north it is close to Turkey and from the west, it has common borders with Duhok province.

This town is one kilometer long and 500 meters wide and the whole area is about 1.5 square kilometers, and since it is located on a mountain that is 1185 meters high above sea level, the area cannot get any larger.

This town is cool in the summer but it is very cold and rainy during winter due to its location. It is a very important touristic town for its historical places like Qubahan school and spectacular nature like Solav summer houses.

Most of the houses in Amedi are made of stones that are found around them.

Amedi is among the 30 most beautiful towns in the world and it is in the 24th level.

There are 6000 people living in 1200 houses in this town.

There are several nations with various religious beliefs living in peace in this small town.
