Dal village is one of the villages of Hawraman Takht, located 34 kilometers from Sawlawa city in Sanandaj province. The geographical longitude of Dal village is 28-46 degrees and 8-35 degrees latitude and 1340 meters above sea level. Dal is located between the high mountains of Hawraman and the Sirwan River flows below it. Dal borders the following villages: Rwar, Zom, Dalamarz, and Kolij.
If we want to talk about the history of Dal village, the sources according to the Mountains, plains, and places say that this old and historical village dates back 500 years. Most of us may wonder where the name Dal came from and why the village is called Dal, but unfortunately, there is no accurate evidence about it.
Due to its charming and unique nature, Dal village attracts many tourists and foreigners visit this village. However, due to the cold weather and harsh winters, tourists do not visit this village in autumn and winter. Mostly, tourists go to Dal during the spring season as the scenery is more beautiful and the weather is pleasant. One of the most famous tourist attractions in Dal is "Dalor" which is higher up from the village and overlooks Dal.
Dal village has 250 households, and a population of nearly 1,000 people, and the villagers stay in the village in winter, but when the weather is nice some families temporarily go to Hayshur resort, known as the summer resort of the Dalis. The villagers go to the resort because of the warming weather and the lack of pasture for their animals.
Hayshur resort has a special view and is a green and high place facing the Shaho Mountains.
Dal in Hawraman is the center of Klash (Kurdish shoe) making. Most of the villagers are engaged in making Klash. The men make the shoe sole and the women weave it, which has become an income for the villagers, resulting in low unemployment. They send the shoes they make to the cities and most of them to the Kurdistan Region.
In Hawraman, women had a special position and participated in business. According to their ancestors, in the village of Dal, one of the village councils was always a woman. Women worked more than men, both in the village and in the resorts. When they migrated to the resort, most of the tasks were done by women.
Due to the abundance of plants in this area, there are several special tree species such as "qazwan (Kazwan), barberry, and oleaster", and it is a good place to keep bees. A large amount of honey is produced annually in Dal and in addition to honey production, gum is also produced, which is known as Kurdish gum. The gum is made from the qazwan (wild pistachio) tree or in Hawrami "Wan" and it has its own production method, and each tree can produce gum every two years.
The village receives drinking water from the Sirwan River and seasonal springs. The use of the spring and river water affects the health of the people because it is clean and clear.
Like other villages in Hawraman, Dal village has houses made of stone and wood like the special architecture of Hawraman. However, few have now built houses in modern style.
