The geographical location of the great Kurdistan contains a large number of mountains and high mountain peaks. These mountains have made up half of Kurdistan’s topography.
These mountains have been made up as a result of the Earth’s plate motions from inside and outside.
Qandil mountain is a part of the Zagros mountain ranges which is located among three parts of the great Kurdistan including the East, the South, and the Northern parts of Kurdistan.
Qandil Mountain is a high mountain in Kurdistan that is covered in snow all the time and every winter about several meters of snow will cover it.
The highest peak in Qandil is called “Kawkaz” which is located in the North part of Kurdistan and is 3800 meters high. A part of Qandil is located in Piranshar City in the East part of Kurdistan. Every year mountain climbers from the East part of Kurdistan climb this part of Qandil.
Qandil with a height of 3585 meters is known as a high wall of 450 meters and it is called a mountain wall. Another mountain wall in the East part of Kurdistan is Bistoun Mountain as high as 1200 meters which is the highest mountain wall in Kurdistan.
The mountain range of which Qandil is a part of it stretches along the northern part of Kurdistan and it ends in Armenia. Qandil is the third most beautiful mountain among Kurdistan mountains. There are several kinds of natural plants growing in this mountainous area that are used as food sources in spring and also as medicinal ingredients. There are some kinds of rare flower types found in this area, too.
