The literature through which the children know themselves, their future, their personality, feelings, and thoughts is the literature that develops their experiences of life. although books and other forms of literary works are important for children, however, the importance of magazines is no less than the other forms of publication such as stories, novels, songs, poems, etc. The reason for this is that the children can see more diversity in magazines. Thus, Kurds have paid more attention to this literary topic for children and have worked on it. One of the very first magazines that were published for children was "Kurdish Children Jabber". After that ten other well-structured magazines were published for children.
Children's magazines have emerged after the publication of adult magazines around the world. The magazine "Leibziger Wochenblatt fur Kinder" was published in 1722 in Germany. It was known as the first children's magazine. The content of the magazine consisted of myths and natural science subjects, letters, and some pamphlets. In the same year, the second magazine called "Nidergaschisches Wochenblatt fur Kinder" was published as its competitor. Its content consisted of the same subjects. After these, a children's magazine called "Lilliputian Magazine" was published in Britain in 1751.
In 1824, a magazine called "The Child's Companion" was published. This was the first magazine to be published in the twentieth century and it is the most stable magazine, too since it has been published for almost one hundred years.
Kurdish children's magazines have been published after the other countries' magazines. This is one of the reasons for the delay in children's literature in Kurdistan. "Kurdish Children Jabber" magazine was published in 1946 during the Kurdistan Republic in Mahabad city and its editor was "Qader Modarresi". Only three editions of this magazine were published. This magazine, based on the name of the leader's son, Ali Qazi, as a role model for the Kurdish children in science and art was published. All three editions of this magazine were published in February, March, and April 1946. The magazines were written in the Arami alphabet which is known as the Arabic alphabet. In the Southern part of Kurdistan, the first children's magazine called "The Star" was published in 1972.
