Papoula Paieeza dress

It is a kind of dress that looks like Nashmilan dress but it also has some papula paieeza (dandelion) flowers in it and there are many different colors for this dress.

Pashmina dress

It is a dress made of pashmina fabric. It is thick so nothing can be seen underneath it. It was and still is popular in different colors.

Anecdote: “the old kinds of pashmina were so thin and light so they used to make dresses, dasmal (a shawl-like cloth to cover the shoulders) and Kolwana (a cloak). The kind with three flowers and a light-colored background was used to make dresses. It was also used for brides’ dresses. Pashmina should not be washed so often and it is enough to put it in cold water for a short while. It should be hung shortly after to get dry quickly so that the colors wouldn’t get mixed. It is still popular. It is usually used as pshtwen (a shawl-like cloth to wrap around the waist) and men use it too.”

Paywand dress

The fabric is light and it is like lace but it is not very soft. There are holes in it that are needle worked with a gold or silver thread. It is covered in sequins. It is only used for brides’ dresses, so they call it the Paywandi dress. Brides often wear it on the third day of their wedding ceremony. The colors are usually bright.

 Paywandi Kolka Zerina dress

It is the same as the previous kind, the paywandi dress, but with sequins that reflect the colors of the rainbow very lightly.

Paywandi Gula Ganm dress

It is also another kind of paywandi dress but this one has wheat flowers and it is not vail-like. It was available in yellow and white.

“Pem le mane” dress

This dress’s fabric is very close to linen, it has a checkered background and there is a colorful flower in each square.

Tafte dress

It is made of a light silk fabric, the color of the front and back is different. Tafte fabric has been used for making Kawa (a vest-like clothe to put on over Kurdish dresses).

It is a kind of dress made of hand-made silk.

Shamtafte dress

A kind of dress with tafte flowers knitted on it.

Taxi ba jem mahela dress

Tawus dress

It is a dress made of red light velvet fabric, there are peacock bird shapes on it and it was used for brides’ dresses only.

It was a dress made of a vail-like fabric. There were peacock bird shapes knitted on the skirt part of the dress with gold thread, which was available in various colors.

Pari Tawus dress

It was a dress made of a fabric lighter than chiffon. The peacock bird feathers were knitted on it with gold threads. When the dress was made the feather patterns were on the margins of the skirt. (Old saying): this dress was very pricy and it was used for brides’ dresses.

Jout Tawus dress

A fabric on which the peacock birds were facing each other two by two.

Tor mahi dress

It is a fabric like vail, there are rainbow sequins sewn to it all over the fabric, and the background of the fabric is covered completely. It was particular to young girls. This fabric was also used to make Kawa and Sukhma (a vest to be put on over a dress).

Tozaka dress

There is no information about this kind of dress.

Twezhi Mar dress

This dress is made of a vail-like fabric which is very soft, and there are little flowers with a different color from the background and lots of wreaths on these flowers. It looks like snake scales.

Joula joul dress

The fabric of this dress is a flowery patterned soft one that the flowers are distinct in color from the background. When it is moved it looks like it is waving somehow.
