Kurdshop – Van Spor beat Amed Spor 4-2 in a soccer match held in Van city between Van Spor and Amed Spor to support the earthquake victims.
The Amed Spor soccer team represents Amed, one of the 10 provinces affected by the earthquake in North Kurdistan based in Gurgum (Meresh). Amed Spor played a friendly match against Van Spor in the Turkish Football Federation (TFF) Red Group. All the income from the friendly game was donated to the victims of the earthquake.
“We will heal our wounds together and Van Spor will play a friendly match on February 19, at 14:00, 0-0 at Diyarbakir Stadium,” Amed Spor, who plays in the white group of the TFF second division, said in a statement on Twitter.
The match, scheduled to be played at Diyarbakir Stadium, was later moved to Van. Tickets for the marathon and behind-the-scenes cost 100 TL, and tickets for the VIP section cost 500 TL.
Van Spor president Fayat Kiak and Amed Spor president Selahaddin Yildirim were interviewed by the media before the match.
Players from both teams also took to the field with banners saying, "Together we heal our wounds."
The match ended in a 4-2 victory for Amed Spor.
