Chain
Gold or silver little rings made into a chain.
Rashma chain
It is a kind of gold chain with circle or oval shaped rings that are attached to each other ordinarily and it can be used for all kinds of jewelry that is worn around the neck.
Kurdish chain
It is a kind of chain made with double rings and it is very strong. It can be used for Kurdish bracelets which have decorative coins hanging on them.
Beads
It is a kind of tiny pearl like decoration in various colors.
Zherchana
Every kind of jewelry that is worn under the chin.
1. Old ladies used to wear black silk lace under their chin to fix their Taskilaw (a kind of Kurdish hat for women). This lace was used to keep taskilaw in place.
2. A simple kind of gold chain that was worn by rich ladies.
Note: Zherchana does not have any decoration on it.
Sikka (Coin)
Gold coins. There are many different forms of them, from small sized coins that are very thin and light to very thick ones. These coins are used in most Kurdish jewelry items.
Sourat
It is a coin made in the form of Qajar or Pahlavi coins: the Pahlavi kind of these coins are still popular and there are six forms of them including; ten Pahlavi, five Pahlavi, two and a half Pahlavi, one Pahlavi, half Pahlavi and a quarter Pahlavi.
The kind of coins left from the Ottoman era are called Lira or Ottoman Lira. There are also English coins called Elizabeth coins and the Russian sort are known as Jorja coins. These coins can be made with decorative parts around them.
Simaxar
It is a bone made into a circular form as big as a small coin or silver sequin.
Belief:
A woman can put Simxar in a piece of cloth or handkerchief and hide it in her pants' belt in order to be loved and sweet in her husband's eyes. This is not a clean item to be worn and the woman cannot pray while carrying it.
Sinjax (Pin)
The part of the earing that is embedded into the ears that hold the earing fixed.
Sourat/ Sourat Shayi
A gold coin belonging to Ahmad Shah Qajar's era with a figure of the king on one side and his name and title on the other side. Since it is the figure of Ahmad Shah on this coin, they call it "Sourat Shayi". It is made in three sizes; large, medium, and small.
Sarpolah
Gold, large beads, or valuable stone gems that are made for necklaces. It will be as large as to reach the waist. Sarpolah must be larger than any bead or sequin that is used to make the necklace.
Qabza Noushtou Sarpolah
It is a triangle and flat sort of jewelry with a gemstone in the middle of it. It was used to be hung on Kawa's (a piece of Kurdish clothes looking like a vest) margins or on the head on the sides of the eyes. It was also used for Mekhakband (a kind of necklace made of cloves).
