Zara Award to Serve the Kurdish Language

Kurdshop announced the Zara Award in 2022, coinciding with the imprisonment of Zara Mohammadi, a Kurdish language teacher in Sna (Sanandaj), East Kurdistan, who was sentenced to five years in prison for teaching the Kurdish language and to respect her efforts for serving the Kurdish language.

On the first anniversary of Zara's arrest, we were pleased to present Zara's first award to the Vejin Organization in Mariwan, East Kurdistan, which has been working in the field of recording and digitizing written history, Kurdish literature, and Kurdish cultures in East Kurdistan for years they are active in.

This year, for the second time, we will hold the Zara Award ceremony in Erbil, the capital of the Kurdistan Region, with the participation of Kurdish culture and language lovers to respect the efforts of another Kurdish culture and language activist.

We consider this honor and award as our duty and we hope that with our activities we can encourage more service to the Kurdish individual with their culture, language, and national values.

In conclusion, we can say:

- Kurdshop is a field for defending Kurdish culture, language, history, and art.

- Kurdshop, while respecting the different communities of Kurdistan society, does not belong to any political party, social party, religious party, dialect, or region and considers itself the property of all Kurds and Kurdistan people.

- Kurdshop is the foundation of unity, brotherhood, and honorable coexistence of all communities in Kurdistan.

- Kurdshop is a lighting ray for national awareness and national identity building.
