There Are the Remains of 22 Civilizations in a City in the North Part of Kurdistan

Ani is located near Kars city in the Sarhad region of the North part of Kurdistan and there are the remains of 22 civilizations. Ani is located 45 kilometers east of Kars. It is estimated that there were 24 gates in the walls of Ani, but today, only seven of the 24 gates remained. The entrance to the Castle of Ani is the Lion Gate.

Mount Nemrud and Its Historical Monuments

Mount Beli, mostly known as Mount Nemrud, is one of the most important symbols and The Commagene Kingdom and one of the most important mountains in North Kurdistan. Mount Beli or Nemrud, located in Semsur province in North Kurdistan, was recognized as a World Heritage Site in 1987 by UNESCO. Mount Belli is 2150 meters high and covers an area of 11 hectares.

Faqraqa Cemetery of Mahabad, a 2700-year-old Medes Shrine

Archaeologists say Faqraqa is the northernmost Medes cemetery. The other cemeteries of the Medes period are all located south of Faqraqa and differ somewhat from Faqraqa. The main difference is that they have a courtyard, while Faqraqa does not have a courtyard. It is dug into the mountain without a courtyard and its four pillars have protected the building from collapse for more than 2700 years.
