"Sultan Kosan" who is the tallest man in the world is a Kurdish man born on December 10th, 1982 in Merdin in the Northern part of Kurdistan. Every year his name is recorded as the tallest man in the world in the Guinness Book. Sultan Kosan is considered to be the "tallest man in the world" who is 2 meters and 51 centimeters tall. In 2009, his name was recorded in the Guinness Book for his 27.5 centimeters hands and 36.5 centimeters feet and he has kept the record for the past 15 years. Kosan has three brothers and a sister, all of whom have normal height. His name is recorded in the Guinness Book in 2023 and has traveled abroad 500 times visiting 129 countries in the world.
What is the reason for being so tall?
Kosan's body grew normally from birth to the age of ten without any kind of health problems. However, at the age of ten, doctors identified hormonal disorders and he has grown taller since then. Although he has been under surgery several times, unfortunately, his disease has not been cured and his body grew taller and taller. In 2008, the doctors removed the cyst in his head in order to stop him from growing taller. They believed that his growth would stop but as time passed by, they saw that he grew even taller. He has grown taller every year as high as 1.27 centimeters since then.
According to physicists, Kosan's height has stopped at 251 centimeters which was done in "Virginia" medical school in 2010.
The Guinness Book and Sultan Kosan's Height
It was announced that "Suleiman Abdul Salam", a 29-year-old man from "Ghana" with a height of 2 meters and 89 centimeters, was about to break Sultan Kosan's record from Merdin as the "tallest man in the world". Suleiman Abdul Samad who lives in "Gambala", a city in the west of Ghana, was known to have grown his fingers abnormally when he was 22 years old. When Abdul Samad went to a hospital in Akra, the Capital city of Ghana, they figured out that he was suffering from "Gigantism" disease and he was growing taller.
However, "Mihmet Vays Boray", who was guiding Kosan, told him that there was some news that said Suleiman Abdul Salam from Ghana with a height of 2 meters and 89 centimeters is the tallest man in the world but it is not true. Boray also mentioned that Samad's height is 2 meters and 23 centimeters and that the world's record for the tallest man still belongs to Sultan Kosan.
Kosan is very proud of his height and he is happy that his name is recorded as the tallest man in the world in the Guinness Book every year. In a report in 2023, Kosan said:
"I am 2 meters and 51 centimeters tall and I am the man who is known to be the tallest man on Earth; I also have the largest hands. I am the cultural heritage of the world and I have been holding this record for 14 years now. I am 40 years old. I hear some pieces of news that say Sultan Kosan's record is no longer the first. If there is someone taller than me, I wish to see them. I have been holding this record for 14 years and I have not passed it on to anyone else."
Sultan Kosan also mentioned that he has been keeping this record for 15 years now. Every year, his name, picture, and record are mentioned in the Guinness Book. The Guinness Book is published annually. This year, the book was unveiled in a ceremony in Milano, Italy (2024). No one has broken Sultan Kosan's record so far; thus, his name is mentioned as the tallest man in the book again.
