Life and Biography of Artist Tahsin Taha

Tahsin Taha was born on September 25, 1941, in the Amedi district of Duhok province, South part of Kurdistan in a family of 8 members. After completing his primary, secondary, and high school education, he attended the Art School of Youth in Baghdad in 1964.

His father's name is Taha Mohammed Salim and his mother's name is Simbilkhan.

Tahsin Taha started his primary education in Mangeshk. He studied there for four years, grade 5 in Duhok and grade 6 in Zakho.

In 1955 he graduated from secondary school in Duhok.

After graduation, he settled in Mosul.

His passion for music began in Mosul.

In 1956-1957 he returned to Amedi.

He began high school in 1958 and graduated successfully.

After successfully completing his high school education, he went to Radio Baghdad, where he succeeded.

He studied in Mosul and Baghdad. In 1958, he started working for Baghdad Radio. After university, he began teaching music in Makhmur and then in Erbil. After that, in 1960, he continued as a music teacher. In 1961, he resigned and joined the Peshmerga under the leadership of Mullah Mustafa Barzani.

Tahsin Taha was arrested in 1966, and in 1975, after the defeat of the Peshmerga forces, he wrote the song "Ay Falak".

Tahsin Taha continued his work for music and went to the Netherlands on March 13, 1994, for cancer treatment. He died there on May 18, a year later.

Tahsin Taha became involved with music at a very young age. He initially listened to the songs of Mohammad Arif Jazrawi and Hassan Jazrawi. When he started singing, he became a successful young man and started singing with the song "Ghazal Ghazal" written by Mohammed Arif, and worked in the Kurdish department of Radio Baghdad.

Artist Tahsin Taha is not only prominent as an artist but also as a patriotic and active personality. Tahsin Taha, arrested in 1966, was imprisoned in Baghdad's Khaif al-Sada prison.

At that time, Tahsin Taha sang with Ayshe Shan, Saeed Gabari, Salim Halabi, Ardawan Zakhoyi, and many other famous personalities. The name and voice of the artist spread and was known everywhere.
