Kurdshop: The Turkish Ministry of Education has announced that it will recruit 50 teachers in North Kurdistan and Turkey to teach the Kurdish language.
The Ministry of Education of Turkey announced that 50 teachers will be hired for Kurdish language classes in North Kurdistan and Turkey, 250 teachers for German language classes, 13 teachers for French language classes, and 440 teachers for Arabic language classes.
"Turkey will hire 45000 teachers by 2023, including 50 Kurdish language teachers of which 35 teachers for Kurmanji and 15 for Zazaki," Education Minister Mahmoud Ozer said.
Turkish Education Minister Mahmoud Ozer said that the recruitment of 45000 teachers, which will be hired from 3/27/2023 to 4/1/2023 on their request, will be announced on 5/8/2023.
In 2022, only three teachers were employed to teach Kurdish, but students who have graduated from Kurdish departments have expressed their demands and objections to increase this number. In the past two years, a campaign for optional Kurdish language lessons has been launched and it can be said that the campaign has had some results.
Kurdish language institutions, civil society organizations, political parties, and celebrities have been calling on the Turkish government to hire 200 Kurdish language teachers before the elections.
