Rahman Pirabab, the head of Mahabad’s agriculture office said that this year Mahabad was able to produce 90 thousand tons of apples which 30 thousand tons of it are sent to the market, and 60 thousand tons of it is kept in cold storage.

Except for these 90 thousand tons of apple harvesting, 34 thousand tons of fallen apples under the trees were also collected and sent to factories.

This year’s apple harvest in Mahabad is 50 thousand tons less than last year.

Urmia Province in East Kurdistan harvests more than 1-million-ton apples annually, thus it takes the first rank of apple harvesting in Iran and East Kurdistan.
