Kurdish writer and poet Mahmoud Sabri, known as Evindar Khamgin, passed away at the age of 86 in Hasakah, the West part of Kurdistan.
The Syrian Kurdistan Writers Union has published a message of condolences, "With great sadness, we received the news of the passing away of Kurdish author and poet Mahmoud Sabri, known as "Evindari Khamgin" and a member of the Syrian Kurdistan Writers Union. On this sad occasion, we extend our condolences to his family, all members of the union, and the Kurdish people.”
Mahmoud Sabri was born in 1937 in the village of Chetala Kikan near the city of Drbesi. He spent his childhood in the village of Malek in the city of Derbesi. He learned Arabic from the village clerics at the age of seven.
In 1965, he received his bachelor's degree. Also, in 1970, he received his bachelor's degree from the University of Syria, Faculty of Law.
Mahmoud Sabri was the editor-in-chief of the magazine Khunav, a member of the organizing committee of the Kurdish poetry festival, and a member of the poetry criticism committee. He published 10 poems and works in Kurdish.
